It was unfortunate that Havande was here, unable to see the stars at all. It was just plain....Sad.
The black friesian snorted, walking on and was half-heartedly ready to call it quits and walk away from this forest challenge. But no, the scholar wouldn't be pushed away from something unconquered!
At a small clearing where a sliver of sunlight streamed in the forest, he paused, looking up at it, his black mane covering his right eye. What a strange place this was.

Zeta, an ever wandering soul, had started yet another journey. Though the last place she had stopped at had ended up nearly claiming her and making her call a place home. No, the leopard mare could not do that and would not do that. Instead she ventured on, leaving behind those she had come to realize she cared about as she knew there was no way they could possibly care about her. Leaving them meant they could not leave her and so the mare simply pushed them out of her mind. No longer would she see them and so no longer would she think of them.
Ears forward and alert, her bright blue eyes glanced up towards the sun that was no longer there. Instead it was stars that glittered the sky but that view was blocked by the thick canopy between her and the never ending abyss way above her reach. With a shake of her head that caused her long flowing mane to dance from one side of her spotted neck to the other, she continued to pick her way carefully through the dark forest in hopes of finding a peaceful place to rest.

Havande heard a strange horse's foot falls in the forest, it was almost as if he was a part of it. He could feel it nearly breathe if the black stallion was silent long enough. It was female....Havande could tell by the scent that the wind brought along him, filling his nostrils with it. It was a nice scent. Perfectly floral, a bit of salt and of course earth. A woman's scent...
The friesian smiled, waiting. If the scent was that strong, then the lady would come to him so there was no reason why to go looking for something when it'd come to you willingly.

When a strong scent of male fell over the mare, she came to a stop. Not yet was she ready for company as loneliness wasn't tugging on her just yet. Instead she wished to stay alone with her thoughts so that she may decided whether her choice of leaving the place she had stayed at for so long was even a good idea. Swishing her white tail, she turned her spotted face away from the direction the scent was coming from and off to another parted trail through the dense trees. Up ahead was a clearing with possibly a soft place to lay but down the trail was just more trees. How badly did she wish to stay alone? With a shake of her head she turned her steps towards the direction of the trail and away from the stallion.

Havande, after an hour frowned. Why wasn't the thing coming? It's scent vanished almost as if...It decided not to come anyway. He huffed, walking to where the scent was last smelled and searched around for a good few hours until he saw her.
She was like an imitation of a snow leopard, a beautiful graceful being but with the patterns of something so abnormal but yet so powerful.
"Good evening.." Havande said in a small voice, his accented tone was something that gave away his position in the shadows that the friesian melded from.

Zeta had moved to a small clearing she had came too, her head lowered to the plentiful grasses to fill her hungry belly. Blue eyes half closed she felt rather content with the current moment. It lasted about an hour before again that scent came over the area and she raised her head just as he spoke. Turning her calm gaze back to the man who had spoken she flicked an ear at him to show she had hear him. "And to you" she answered, her voice soft and mellow much to her attitude of the moment. "Have I trespassed here?" she asked, wondering if this stallion lead this land.

At once, Havande shook his head, making his mane like a sprawling black web fly from one side to the other on his neck. "No. I am the only horse in this land, and I suppose you could say I lead it. You are welcome to stay or leave if you desire. I am a gentleman who's purpose is to study the stars..." He paused, looking her over. She really was a dainty and pretty thing. But he couldn't help but wonder if she was hungry or ill or something of the like.
"I am Havande, M'lady. May I ask what your name is?" The black friesian stepped a few paces closer but not too close.

((Remember, if you want this to be his land you are more than welcome to claim it but you'll have to make at thread stating so))
Zeta remained calm, her blue eyes just watching despite him moving closer. She was not fearful of him. No, she had meet too many to be fearful of and he did not carry himself in such a way as they had. The stance of a horse presented much about their personality and he seemed to be.....different. "My name is Zeta" she answered simply before she turned to completely face him, raising her head so that she could look at him more fully instead of over her shoulder. "I am but a simply wanderer going in the direction of which the trails lead me"

((Okays! I'll have Havande Claim it.)) "I see." The black stallion smiled softly. "Take as much time as you need to rest and do what you need to do. Stay as long as you need. I will not bother you if you do not wish it of course." The friesian spoke the truth. He wouldn't come closer, nor ask how she was if the mare wasn't really wanting of him to do so. "It is a pleasure, Zeta. Would you like to star-gaze with me?" He asked.

A smile graced her lips as if she found him amusing. "I would not send a leader away when he stands upon his own land" Zeta replied before turning her blue eyes up towards the sky upon his request. "It does seem a well fitted night for such. This place is so dark with its thick coverage, I feel lucky to have found this small opening to see the heavens." She then turned her gaze to his, the starlight sparkling in their blue depths showing her caring and kind spirit.

He chuckled. "You are quite the humorous one and yet so humble. One must wonder though. Why are you still unclaimed? I must admit you are very tempting, but being a gentleman I refuse to do so unless you, yourself would like to stay here." Havande politely said, telling her the truth and nothing but.
"I know a clearing where we can see the stars if you wish to come. It's a ledge, you can see the other territories, and it's pretty much the only clearing where we could see everything." He sheepishly admitted.
((Guys, I'm so sorry I disappeared. My area was racked with a Derede storm. Our apartment building's roof was mostly GONE. We had no power and no water in 107 degree heat. The roads close to our home was flooded and closed with hundreds of trees blocking all parts of the area.
I am in Charleston, WV...And Sat. morning, we tried to get gas for our Truck. No luck. Thousands of people took to the gas stations and food stores EARLY and pretty much no luck. We came to here, my grandparent's ranch in Boone Co. which is located not far from Charleston but nestled in the mountains. They have a generator here because they have breathing machines and I need a refridgerator to keep my diabetic medicine cooled.
We are expecting another severe storm, so warning if I disappear again. We are all doing fine (meaning my entire family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, my parents and our dogs. Our livestock are fine as well being in the shade.) ))

The thought of being claimed was not a troubling one. So many stallions had tried to tame her wandering spirit but none had succeeding in doing so. Would this stallion try in another matter by temptation rather than force? She does not let her thoughts show through her eyes, instead she is like a closed book to those she does not wish to see what is inside. "They have tried and only by doing will you find out why they have failed in time" Zeta said. There was no threatening tone, no ominous warning. It was a simple statement of truth and nothing more.
Upon his sheepish amendment of the place in which he wished to take her, she gave a faint nod. "Very well Havande" she replied. "You may show me this place you speak of"
((hope things get better for you))

Perhaps Havande already fell in love with the leopard patterned mare...Or was it awe that the black stallion possessed for her?
Awe of her calmness, her beauty and strange silent power that growled and blossomed within the aura of her being. Zeta could be the one beauty who could tame the lonely heart of a scholar.
He nodded. "No worries, Zeta. I already told you I would not claim you. I am far too much of a gentleman to do so. If nothing, I consider all horses to be a close friend unless they prove otherwise." Havande smiled, his veil of black mane again covered his right eye as he led her to the clearing.
Thousands upon thousands of stars littered the sky, the strange glow of the moon allowed them to see into the horizon of the neighboring territories with ease and the soft embrace of the wind calmed Havande. The scents of spring flowers filled his senses as he approached the ledge and stopped, waiting for Zeta.
"Welcome...To Starlight Ridge, Zeta."

Zeta walked beside Havade, her shoulder square with his as an equal rather than a follower like most mares would have. Her ears were tipped forwards and her steps were sure as her eyes watched the surroundings change and evolve around them as they walked. It was strange this place of no stars that suddenly there they were. As they stop upon the ledge the mare tips her nose up as her eyes look upon the bright lights that look bigger than normal. Were they closer standing upon this ledge than normal? "This is quite a wonderful place" she answered him.

Havande grinned. "I thought you would like it. I come here whenever I am tired, scared, hurt or sad. The glimpse of the world is enough to heal my wounds and fears." He sighed. "What does it feel like for you?" The black stallion asked.
